DFP was engaged by Stockland to assist in the redevelopment of the former Totem Shopping Centre at Balgowlah. DFP successfully obtained approval through Manly Council for the mixed use retail, commercial and residential development.

The Stockland Balgowlah shopping centre comprises a 16,000m2 of retail floorspace and includes a supermarket and specialty shops as well as early childhood centre and gym.

The redevelopment also includes a plaza, commercial uses, 234 apartments in eight residential buildings ranging from 2 to 8 storeys and basement carparking.

DFP prepared staged development applications for the project, with the Stage 1 DA the product of extensive consultation with Manly Council, Precinct Committee, community representatives and immediate neighbours.  DFP also assisted Stockland in strategies for a number of Land and Environment Court appeals against various conditions of consent and stratum and strata subdivision.

The project, known as the Village Balgowlah won a commendation in the 2010 Australian Institute of Architects NSW Chapter Awards and was a finalist in the Property Council of Australia 2010 Innovation and Excellence Awards.
