The Village, Balgowlah

DFP was engaged by Stockland to assist in the redevelopment of the former Totem Shopping Centre at Balgowlah. DFP assisted Stockland in successfully obtaining approval through the Land and Environment Court for the mixed use retail, commercial and residential development.

The Village Balgowlah mixed use development comprises a shopping centre and basement car parking located below a podium comprising a plaza flanked with retail and commercial uses and 8 residential buildings ranging from 2 to 8 storeys.

The Stage 1 DA was the product of extensive community consultation that engaged Council’s professional staff, precinct committees, community representatives and immediate neighbours. This laid the foundation for the more detailed Stage 2 DA which incorporated some 16,000m2 of retail floor space and 234 apartments. DFP prepared the SEEs for the Stage 1 and Stage 2 DAs and subsequent modification applications.

DFP was also engaged by Stockland to assist in the development of strategies for a series of Land and Environment Court appeals against various conditions of development consent relating to car parking allocation, plastic bag usage, loading arrangements for the club building and the stratum and strata subdivision of the development. All appeals were successful.
